Financial Aid

Tuition & Fees

At CMU every effort is made to make your education here financially possible.

Each year, at least 50% of our student body receives financial aid. Scholarships, awards, and bursaries are available for undergraduate and graduate students.

We also have a financial services advisor willing to answer questions or meet with you to discuss money matters.

A full-time (24 credit hours) undergraduate Canadian student living in the dorm and using the full meal plan can expect to pay about $15,000 (CAD) for one year of studies at CMU.

A full-time (24 credit hours) undergraduate international student living in the dorm, using the full meal plan, and paying for required health insurance fees can expect to pay about $21,000 (CAD) for one year of studies at CMU.

The outline below gives a general idea of the breakdown in costs for one year, as a full-time (24 credit hours) Canadian student. International fees and graduate fees may differ.

How much your education at CMU will cost depends on your own specific situation. The variables include:

  • Course load: The number of classes and type of classes can alter the costs of tuition, books, and supplies.
  • Living arrangements: The cost of residence or of rent, groceries, and monthly bills must be factored in. (The cost of renting apartments can be shared with roommates.)
  • Accommodations: CMU has various accommodation options for you, ranging from double and single occupancy dorms to apartments. See the above listing of all on-campus housing prices. Click here for more information about the advantages of living on campus at CMU.
  • Transportation: Chances are you're going to leave campus for events and concerts. Set money aside for getting around Winnipeg and traveling home. (e.g. an unlimited use e-pass is currently $89.30 per month for post-secondary students.)
  • Books: The cost of books will vary depending on whether you buy new or used books.
  • Entertainment: Money may be tight, but you'll want to allow yourself some funds to see the latest movie, go for coffee with friends, go to the symphony, see a play, watch a hockey, baseball or football game, or eat at a restaurant.

See the First-Year Cost Calculator (2024/25), a tool that can help you estimate and budget your costs.
