Music festival showcases CMU talent, honours Dean of Student Life
The Winnipeg Folk Festival was two months ago, but students at CMU are hoping some of the energy from that event will live on at the MPK Folk Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Organized by the Arts & Entertainment Committee from CMU’s Student Council, the MPK Folkfest is a music event that is part of the university’s Fall Festival. Held in the Back 40—a space in the forest behind CMU’s south side—the event features musical performances by CMU students and alumni.
Class of 1953 to gather for 60-year reunion at Fall Festival
Times of sharing, remembering, fellowship, and prayer are planned as graduates from the 1953 classes of CMU’s predecessor colleges gather at the university’s Fall Festival for their 60th class reunion.
Fifteen Canadian Mennonite Bible College (CMBC) and Mennonite Brethren Bible College (MBBC) alumni and spouses will reunite at the university Sept. 27-28.

Jaron and Abby Friesen are supporting CMU by buying a tile through the Come Together: Be a Bridge Builder campaign because the university is important to them. Jaron graduated from CMU in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in International Development Studies as well as Biblical & Theological Studies.
Farmer’s market, pie bake-off add to Fall Festival's ‘country fair’ feel
New to this year’s CMU Fall Festival is the farmer’s market happening in the morning on Saturday, Sept. 28. In addition to vegetables from the CMU Farm, the market will feature a variety of different local food and other vendors.
Megan Klassen-Wiebe, a CMU alumnus who is organizing the farmer’s market, is hoping that participants will include vegetable vendors, a honey producer, jewelry makers, baked goods, and perhaps a fruit producer.
Royal Canoe guitarist talks about how CMU has shaped his life
With its forward-thinking blend of pop, rock, hip-hop, dance, soul, and electronic music, as well as its energetic live shows, Royal Canoe has made a name for itself as one of Winnipeg's most exciting bands.
Two of the band's singles have reached the Top 5 on CBC Radio 3, they have toured throughout North America and Europe, and they've earned praise from venerable publications like The New York Times to blogs like This Music Doesn't Suck, which described the band's sound as "a clever blend of aesthetics and genres executed with a confidence and expertise usually reserved for more established groups."
