Discover Days are for undergraduate prospective student and their supporters.

  • Register alone or with a guest!
  • All high school or other prospective students attending together are encouraged to register separately.
  • If you live outside of Winnipeg, check out our Discover Weekend event below or let us know if you'd like to expand your experience by staying on campus overnight!

Event Accessibilitytoggle

CMU aims to create events that are welcoming, accommodating, and supportive of diverse accessibility needs. Where possible, CMU Admissions will provide accommodations or alternative programming to support attendee participation in Discover Day events. Please request accommodations through the Discover Day registration form or contact Emily (Admissions Events Coordinator) for more information.

A few notes about Discover Day:

  • Discover Day is hosted across campus in a variety of locations and may require participants to walk from one building to the next,
    • Outdoor pathways are paved and all buildings have first-floor accessible entrances or ramp access.
    • Elevators and wheelchair lifts are available in both the Assiniboine Castle and South Hall buildings where stairs are present.
    • Alternate programming may be provided for attendees unable to walk or stand for long periods of time.
  • There are accessible and gender-neutral washrooms on the first-floor of both the Assiniboine Castle and South Hall buildings.
  • CMU is a university rooted in the Anabaptist faith tradition, full-day participants will have the opportunity to attend our Community Chapel, alternate programming can be provided for participants, please talk to an Admissions team member.
  • Full-day participants will experience lunch in our residence dining hall, while CMU Food Services takes food allergies seriously and makes efforts to accommodate when possible, our dining hall is not allergen free.

Discover Weekend

If you live outside of Winnipeg, this is the campus visit event for you. You’ll experience all the excitement of a Discover Day, plus two nights in residence and an off-campus excursion to get to know our city.

Cost: Free to attend!

Yes! That's right — All on-campus accommodations, meals, transportation to activities, and admission to off-campus excursions/activities are included in your registration to Discover Weekend. Participants are welcome to purchase additional food and gifts at the CMU's folio cafe, CommonWord bookstore, or at off-campus activities if/when available.

Who is this for?toggle

Discover Weekend was designed for our out of city/province guests in mind! You might want to consider Discover Weekend if:

  • You are a prospective undergraduate student.
  • You live far away.
  • You are interested in living on campus and want to know what it's like.
  • You want to spend some time in Winnipeg.

While we welcome supporters (parents, guardians, siblings) at this event, we encourage prospective students to attend by themselves or with a friend to give them the most authentic residence experience.

What to expect?toggle

Everything included in our Discover Day event (see event above) plus...

  • the opportunity to experience Student Life through staying in residence,
  • breakfast, dinner, and nightly snack in our dining hall,
  • student-led activites like residence board game night, bingo, or attending Blazers Athletics games,
  • an off-campus excursion to get to know Winnipeg.

Travel Subsidytoggle

We will pay up to $400 of your total travel cost if you travel by plane, bus, or train to Winnipeg from within Canada or the USA ($500 CDN if from the USA). Half of the total cost is paid at the time of your visit (up to $200) and your remainder fare is put into your CMU student account to be applied against tuition costs (up to $200).

If you live more than 150 kms outside of Winnipeg and drive here, we'll reimburse you for gas at $0.40/km up to the same limit as above. (Half paid at time of travel, half when you become a student).

To qualify for a travel subsidy, your visit must be pre-arranged with the CMU Admissions Department. You will also be required to submit receipts, so hang on to them! Your receipts must be submitted within two weeks of the event date to receive a travel subsidy.

Open House

Open House events are quick introduction to CMU, designed for prospective undergraduate students of all ages and their families. This event is dynamic and allows for you to experience CMU at your own pace and in your own time.
