Christmas at CMU
One Hour Special (mp3 download)
December 25: The Christmas@CMU Radio Program will be re-broadcast Manitoba-wide courtesy of Golden West Radio. Tune in to CFAM 950 AM Steinbach, CHSM 950 AM Altona, CJRB 1220 AM Boissevain at 11 am on Christmas Day for this special recording of CMU’s annual Christmas program, taped live at CMU.
Christmas@CMU is an annual event featuring a series of Advent concert performances taking place on CMU’s campus, featuring choirs, instrumental ensembles, and storytellers. This year, CMU Communications and Media Instructor and Broadcast Host David Balzer and his Sunday@CMU co-producer Diane Hiebert recorded and edited taped segments of the live performances to share through CMU radio broadcasting.
“The radio program is literally a walk-through of the November 28, 2009 event, moving through four themes – Mary’s Song, the Promise Foretold, Christ is Born and The Visit of the Magi,” says Balzer. Each theme is introduced by a brief Scripture reading supported by music. The repertoire includes: Women’s Chorus, Men’s Chorus, CMU Singers, Chamber singers, instrumental ensembles and culminates in a carol singalong accompanied by the CMU Jazz Band. Selections range from classical repertoire to traditional Christmas carols.
