Exhibits: Our (Hutterite) Life in Art

Our (Hutterite) Life in Art

Friday, September 20 — Saturday, November 9, 2019

Students from the following schools contributed art to the exhibition: Acadia School, Albright School, Brennan School, Crystal Spring School, Decker School, Fairholme School, Glenway School, Greenacres School, Maple Grove School, Oak River School, Odanah School, Silverwinds School, Willerton School, Wingham School.

Jesse Hofer of Silverwinds Community sent out the word to many Hutterite community schools and artists. Through Jesse's fine work and dedication, a fantastic exhibition, Our (Hutterite) Life in Art, has been assembled.

This exhibition along with Voices of Conscience: Peace Witness in the Great War invite us to discover the story of Hutterite war resistance that led to torture, imprisonment and even death in the US and to learn about Hutterite life among those who came to Manitoba to escape persecution, who in their century here have become fine citizens of our province and country.

Here is a news article about Our (Hutterite) Life in Art from the Winnipeg Free Press, written by Brenda Suderman titled "Heritage on display: Hutterites depict ordinary life through artwork."
