Join us in the Artist Tent located on the north side lawn near the east entrance loop for two artist demonstrations presented by MHC Gallery and Canadian Mennonite University! After the demonstration, don't forget to stop by MHC Gallery on the south side campus (610 Shaftesbury) to check out the current exhibitions by these two artists.

10:30 AM – 12:00 PM, Art-in-progress demonstration with Jessie Jannuska

Jessie Jannuska is a Winnipeg-based Indigenous visual artist and art workshop facilitator of mixed Dakota, Ojibway, and settler ancestry; and is a member of Canupawakpa Dakota Nation in Treaty 2. She will be demonstrating her techniques for creating art - which explores her Indigenous culture through a cathartic lens that blends realism, contemporary beadwork style, and symbolism representing her Indigenous spirituality. 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM, Indigo Dye Drop-in Workshop with Katrina Craig

Katrina Craig is a Winnipeg-based visual artist and craftsperson who also emphasizes community engagement. Her work incorporates textile techniques with mixed media materials, hand-lettered text, deconstructed objects, plants, and organic materials. Stop by Katrina's indigo demonstration as we learn how to dye textiles using indigo, as well as the traditional and historical roots of blue Indigo dye. Leave with your own beautiful piece of art! Bring a t-shirt, tote bag, pillow case or any cotton textiles (or use one of our cotton samples) for a chance to try out this age-old natural dye process!
