Faculty Position: Social Work
Full-Time, Salaried, with Benefits
CMU invites applications from candidates for a full-time faculty position (open-rank, professor or teaching professor) in Social Work.
We are particularly interested in applicants who reflect one or more of the following priorities:
- An Indigenous (to Turtle Island) scholar of social work
- A scholar engaged with Indigenous-led or IBPOC/BIPOC-led organizations or community-building work, overlapping with or comprising an alternative to social work
- A scholar who is a member of an equity-seeking community, including women, racialized and Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities/expressions
- A scholar holding a PhD (or in process to complete) or an alternate terminal degree in Social Work or a close cognate degree
- Or a scholar without a PhD, but with significant direct practice or related relevant experience
Note that applicants must have at minimum a Master’s level degree and at least one degree in social work (e.g. BSW, MSW or PhD).
Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Social Policy, Indigenous Social Work Practice, Child Welfare, Adult/Youth Justice, Women’s Issues, Clinical Practice both in theory and methods of intervention
The successful candidate will join CMU’s social work and broader faculty, together building and delivering CMU’s exciting new social work program–an exceptional opportunity for creative and engaged teacher-scholars.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, and will be actively engaged with research in social work.

The appointment will begin July 1, 2025. Rank (assistant, associate, or full) and appointment type (professor or teaching-professor) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
